The Big “N”….Do You Have One?

Are any of you readers writers?

Have you written a novel?

OK, so that’s a frustrating question, I know. In the eyes of so many Americans one isn’t a “writer” until they’ve written a BOOK. (You understand this, after every cocktail party conversation you’ve had about writing). But, of course, there are so many other demonstrations of the written word. Have you written articles, blogs, short stories, flash fiction, text book contributions, magazine contributions? Have you edited, copywritten, proofread? Have you written for children, teenagers, young adults? What ink have you put on paper that gives you the right to be called a writer? What are you proud of?

And, if you’ve written a novel please share a little about your experience. Did you start there, or end up there?  What are you inspirations?

Thanks for sharing.

  1. I’ve been writing novels since I was in middle school. The only difference between now and then is that I’m working hard on getting them published.

I write plays, screenplays, sketches, flash, short stories, humor, poetry and parody. I’ve also been a copywriter and copy editor. I love words. I love to read. I love to write.

I know how this feels. I’m in the middle of a novel right now, and somehow have this internal obstacle to calling myself a writer until its done.
