Stuart Spencer has been named the executive director of Lodi Winegrape Commission (LWC or Lodi Wine, for short) this month, filling a vacancy that opened in January 2018. Spencer previously held the role of Lodi Wine program manager for 19 years and with the new appointment, he’ll further his work on sustainability, grower education and consumer awareness.
Lodi wine country lies between the San Francisco Bay and the Sierra Nevada Mountains and produces a diverse range of over 100 varieties. Traditional California-style vines are grown alongside varieties from Spain, Italy, Germany, Portugal and France’s Southern Rhône Valley. At about double the size of Napa Valley, Lodi growers support over 110,000 acres of vineyards.
